Water Body Nature / Park
Sail the vast, placid waters of Dal Lake, surrounded by lush Mughal-style gardens and lined with British-built houseboats. Nestled in the foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range, the lake, nicknamed “Jewel in the Crown of Kashmir,” was for centuries the region’s favorite summer destination, known for its pleasant, cool climate. Relax on the deck of one the houseboats and enjoy the scenic vista, or take a ride on a "shikara" (a gondola-like boat) and admire the sight of floating gardens and markets, filled with vibrant lotus flowers, fruits, and vegetables. Where to stay in Srinagar

The moderate climate of Srinagar has made it a popular destination for locals during the summer, hence its good range of accommodations. Hotels basic and luxury, great and small, jostle for position alongside the main waterways, and across from the city's many historic gardens. However, staying on a houseboat on Dal Lake remains the most iconic way to ejoy your Srinagar holiday, with options ranging from budget to high-end. If you don't fancy spending your nights on the water, the palatial scale of the main tourist area makes it one of the more relaxing and popular areas to stay in. More cost-effective accommodations sit on the side streets of the residential districts further to the north.
