Triveni Sangam, Somnath
Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Take a boat with other pilgrims to see where ashes of national leaders like Gandhi are spread at Triveni Sangam, a confluence of three rivers and a sacred place for Hindus. This is where Ganges, Yamuna and mythic Saraswati River meet believed to be the place where Krishna shed his mortal coil. Walk along the banks and seek shade in one of the pavilions and unwind enjoying the panoramic view of the water. You can feed sea gulls and pigeons or see a bust of Gandhi on the shore, marking the spot where his ashes were dispersed.
