Unchalli Falls, Sirsi

(4.4/5 based on 40+ reviews on the web)
Unchalli Falls, also known as Lushington Falls, is a waterfall created by a 116m drop in the Aghanashini river. The fall is located near Siddapur in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka, India. The falls are named for J. D. Lushington, a District Collector for the British Government, who discovered the falls in 1845.Heggarne, a hamlet in Uttara Kannada district, is 35 km from Siddapur. The falls are reached by a 5km trek from Heggarne through thick forest. Here the river makes a cavalcade of water falls and eventually leaps into a steep valley to form a spectacular, picturesque waterfall. The falls are sometimes called Keppa Joga because of the deafening sound they make.

  • You won't be able to get the view very closely to it. But still, mind blowing falls. Beautiful.
  • Three view points. The second one seems to be the best. Rainbow formation adds to beauty of the falls. Caution : The steps vary in height and cracks also can be home to small crabs . The third viewpoint is not complete and one must be very careful. Also note: the Google recommended road from siddhapur was blocked due to overflowing water on a small bridge . The way to go would be via muttalli , yalagar cross, heggarane. Beware of missing sign boards. Seek information from locals.
  • Amazing falls..rainbow formation.. Roads are good..u can go where the falls fall..lil bit difficult to go there though.. No shops near by..away from town..bring foods

  • Though not much known or popular, worth to visit. There is a small mud road surrounded by calm and peaceful nature leading to this falls. Not recommended for old people as we have to walk about 2-3 KM to reach the view point. The road is slightly steep. From there, you can again climb down little more, but the steps are very narrow and steep. From the view point itself you will get a magnificent view of the falls. We will get refreshed by the healing touch of nature and sweet music of birds...
