Fort Aguada, Sinquerim
(3.9/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web)
A well-preserved structure constructed in 1612, Fort Aguada sits on the mouth of River Mandovi, placed there to fend of the Dutch and the Marathas. Examine how the entire strategic construction is divided into two sections, with the upper part used as a water station and fort, and the lower as a berth for ships. The lighthouse was used to guide ships safely to their docks, until it was abandoned in 1976. Deep inside, discover the escape passage that enabled retreat during war and other emergencies. • This place was near my hotel and found it to be very nice. Old fort and those who love to visit forts would definitely love to go around.
  • This fort was built by the Portuguese Rulers in Goa to store water for their ships. It is located at a strategic place on a hillock overlooking the Arabian Sea adjacent to the light house. Nothing more...  more »
  • This is one of the nice forts in North Goa, Gives a very good view of Arabian sea , Surrounded by lush green vicinity. If you plan to visit a fort during Goa trip this fort should be top in the list.

  • Good place to visit. The fort is huge and it's fun to explore the insides of the fort. Its interesting to understand the engineering in that period and how efficient it was. The light house is also an interesting spot. You can climb all the way up tot he top. The view is superb. Its recommended that you travel early morning by 8:00 am to this place as it gets too crowdy and hot later in the day.
  • The Fort is beautiful and a very good vantage point for a panoramic view of the coast. Also don't miss the light house complex adjoining to it. We can climb into the lighthouse by paying a very nominal entrance fee to the Government. It gives you a view from a height even higher than the Fort. As of Nov 2016, the approach road is in excellent shape.
  • Beautiful place. One of the oldest fort of India. Well maintained by Goa Tourism department. No entry fees . Well parking space. During cloudy weather looks more beautiful.
  • Well mainitained when compared to the other historical places in goa. But people should behave reaponsibly. The rear side of the fort is littered a lot by visitors.
  • Awesome sea view and a good place for photography. The place is easily accessible by road. Avoid during rainy days as there is no place for shelter.
