Fort Aguada, Sinquerim

(1,100+ reviews on the web)
Ruin
A well-preserved structure constructed in 1612, Fort Aguada sits on the mouth of River Mandovi, placed there to fend of the Dutch and the Marathas. Examine how the entire strategic construction is divided into two sections, with the upper part used as a water station and fort, and the lower as a berth for ships. The lighthouse was used to guide ships safely to their docks, until it was abandoned in 1976. Deep inside, discover the escape passage that enabled retreat during war and other emergencies. • Route to the Fort was quite scenic. Also the view from the fort of the Sea is simply spectacular Fort Aguada and its lighthouse was built in seventeenth-century by the Portuguese. It still stands strong and is well preserved. It has the capacity to store 2.4 million gallons of water. The lighthouse was abandoned in 1976 No entry fee for visiting the fort
  • Built by the Portugese to serve as a watering point for their ships, it has two parts. The lower fort is surrounded by a trench and the upper has a view point and a light house. Nice cool place to hang out, relax and spend some leisure time during you visit to Goa. Below the fort, there is a small Jail which seemingly offers a beautiful view of the sea. Beware though, the officials may shoe you away if they wish to.
  • Nice place to visit in Goa. I would not really recommend the place in the peak summer, though. It can get quite hot, and humid. The view of the sea from the fort is indeed a sight to see. Make sure you carry a water bottle with you if you are going in the summer, and enjoy the place.
  • Very near from candolim. Mode of transport: hired bikes/scooties preferable as 🚕 n auto rickshaws will charge way more than required. Comparatively a small court but beautiful. No much of a walking/trekking required. The sea view from the fort is all that makes it look beautiful
  • Nice spot to go on a day when there's no heat . Very little shade available.. good scenery to watch.. stalls available outside for food and shopping stuff ☺
