Fort Aguada, Sinquerim

3.8
A well-preserved structure constructed in 1612, Fort Aguada sits on the mouth of River Mandovi, placed there to fend of the Dutch and the Marathas. Examine how the entire strategic construction is divided into two sections, with the upper part used as a water station and fort, and the lower as a berth for ships. The lighthouse was used to guide ships safely to their docks, until it was abandoned in 1976. Deep inside, discover the escape passage that enabled retreat during war and other emergencies. • Simple yet nice place to visit for photography lovers. you can capture few beautiful moments here at sunset.. beware of think walls. careful with kids. It's scenic, simple. Don't forget to drink Nibmu soda just opposite to entrance.
  • Nothing but remains of a big fort...just huge walls. U get a good view of the ocean from here. Can click some good pics. SKIP THIS If u have good beaches to visit, that would be a better option.
  • You can't just take all of it in a single photograph. The mixing of the land, sea and sun. The fort is situated exactly where they meet. You can enjoy the waves. The sun and the hilly land too. Just get your camera and start clicking. You cant just take one pic. The scenic photos captured by you will leave you speechless.
  • I'm surprised people rated this as one of the best historical monuments to see. To me, this place was actually extremely boring, and I wasn't really anything to see. A lot of people are there a lot of tourists are there, and there's actually no information that I seen that captured my attention. I understand it was a jail, but... It might just be me. If you're in the area, you might as well take a look. I wouldn't expect anything spectacular, though. That's just my opinion.
  • A very simple fortress located at a very scenic point. In comparison to other fortress or structures of the same era, there isn't much in the way of architecture. It's got a simple layout with an open area in the middle. This is however a fantastic place to witness sunsets, being on the west coast.

Where to stay in Goa

One of the more affordable regions for staying in India, Goa offers a good range of sleeping options, from budget to luxurious. Visitors looking for that feeling of home away from home can explore rental apartments, which offer more space than a hotel room and often come with fully equipped kitchens. Look for an apartment in Oxel or Siolim, peaceful villages with gated communities and a range of facilities. Beach houses and private villas offer an alternative for those with deeper pockets, while beach huts/shacks work well for budget-conscious travelers.
