Coronation Bridge, Siliguri
(4.1/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Traverse the cleverly engineered span of Coronation Bridge, a striking white and raspberry-red reinforced concrete structure. Supported by a single arch, the bridge crosses the Teesta River and connects the districts of Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling. Commissioned to commemorate the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in 1937, it was completed in 1941, and affords sweeping views of the verdant valley and river below. Note the two lion statues at one entrance. Put Coronation Bridge and other Siliguri attractions into our Siliguri travel itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • The Coronation Bridge, also known as theSevoke Bridge, in Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India, spans across the Teesta River, connecting the districts of Darjeeling andJalpaiguri. National Highway 31 runs across it. It was named to commemorate thecoronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in 1937 and was completed in 1941 at a cost of Rs 4 lakhs.[1] The foundation stone of the bridge was laid by John Anderson, the-then Governor of Bengal in 1937. • Very nice bridge with architecture like few of the bridges in abroad. One will feel refreshing once stood on it.
  • The coronation bridge is an excellent old bridge which was made by the britishers. ....from that time till now the coronation bridge is the main connection from siliguri to dooars. ...the tourist were very impressed with this bridge. The cold air of the river teesta is much colder than air conditioner .....I like this brilliant idea of the structure of the bridge. I like love this bridge and dooars very much. ..
