Tiger and Lion Safari, Shimoga, Shimoga

(2.7/5 based on 170+ reviews on the web)
Get a close-up view of lions, tigers, and leopards recovering from circus life at Tiger and Lion Safari, Shimoga, an open zoo and a popular wildlife reserve on Shimoga-Sagar Road some 10 km (6.2 mi) from Shimoga. This safari park run by the Indian government covers some 200 ha (494 ac) of land, with ticket prices raising money to help the animals here return to the wild. In addition to large felines, you can see sloth bears, deer, and many other mammals, as well as a variety of rare birds, including white and silver pheasants. A small zoo and an interactive children’s park make this a good place for families to visit. Learn about wildlife and the effects of animal cruelty, and observe some magnificent creatures. Put Tiger and Lion Safari, Shimoga and other Shimoga attractions into our Shimoga tourist route planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • There are four tigers roaming in this safari with two asiatic lions separately. Fantastic to get close to these magnificent creatures but also inevitably sad that such a facility is needed at all.
