Kali Bari Temple, Shimla
Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Enjoy a view of the Himalayas and a city panorama amidst lush greenery from Kali Bari Temple, a famous hilltop pilgrim centre and one of the oldest temple in Shimla. Painted in intense red, orange and white colors, the temple houses a blue wooden image of goddess Kali, must sought after by devotees seeking blessing. Built upon the foundation of an old temple dedicated to Goddess Shaymala found by British engineers in the early 19th century, Bengali pilgrims converted it into a Kali temple in 1845. Thronged by thousands of devotees during a festival, the temple is located at the end of the Mall road. The temple is situated in the main market area with a slight climb. Good to see with family and friends.
Wonderfully located at the end of the mall road.. Great view of the valley from the mandir area. Serene and beautiful.

Scenic setting but takes a healthy heart to climb those stairs. If climbing downstairs -from the Mall street, I would recommend late winter afternoons when the vendors are out. It helps take the 'heat' out of the trek.
