Jakhu Temple, Shimla

4.4
At Jakhu Temple, see the red 33 m (108 ft) tall idol of the Hindu deity, Hanuman. Locals believe that Hanuman, also known as the Monkey Lord, brings fortune to those who embark on an uphill trek to reach his sacred refuge. At an altitude of 2,455 m (8,000 ft), the ancient temple also harbors its most peculiar denizens--monkeys--who signify the god's omnipresence. However, be sure to secure all your belongings when you reach the site, because these creatures are known to take anything they can get their hands on. Before leaving the temple, ring the bell for good luck before descending back to the city. • 1. There are 2 ways to go to Temple. One is through cable wire & other is by walking. 2. If you chose to walk, you will have to walk a lot. Aaaaaaaa lot. In the journey, a time will come when you will start sitting after every 25-30 steps. But it is fun.

A tourist destination since the days of the Raj, Shimla has plenty of accommodations to choose from, whatever your style and budget. Take a look along The Mall and The Ridge in the town center for the bulk of what's on offer, with everything from hostels to hotels available. Some particularly grand hotels take pride of place on the outskirts to the northeast and west, offering luxurious, large rooms, and extra facilities, such as pools, restaurants, and spas.
