  • Absolutely amazing place for architecture lovers, very intricate wood work, unpolished for a 128 years. There's a small cafeteria too. Plan and visit according to IIAS visitor timings.  more »

  • Absolutely beautiful building. The garden area is also fabulous. I would recommend doing the heritage walk from The Ridge to The Institute of Advanced Studies (also known as the Viceregal lodge -It used to be the residence of the Viceroy of India during British era). There are many great buildings and sights along the way. The Institute is closed on Mondays and is open only till 5 pm for 10 months a year. Only during 2 summer months (May and June) is it open till 7 pm.
  • What a location!!!! Erstwhile residence of Viceroy. Partially converted into a museum. Lots of pictures reflecting the hostory of freedom struggle around Mahatama Gandhi. Great building up on a ridge. Even if you are not a history buff, go for the location & the views it offers.
  • Beautiful. Ask for a guided tour for knowing the history of the Viceroy's Mansion. Must visit of in Shimla. Preferred time after monsoons when the flowers are in full bloom.
  • Constructed in the 1800s and still continues to be a beautiful monument. English architectural style situated in the beautiful city of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India. Promises to give you a royal feel.
  • Place is neat and clean. Must go for people studying indian politics and history. Building is beautiful and beautiful park and lawn. Cafeteria is small with limited menu.
