  • This is a very beautiful fort with a scenic surrounding. We employed a local guide for the tour and it was worth it. He started off from the staircase at the entrance till the top most point with stor...  more »

  • nice place to visit .....first fort built by marathas.......about 25 km from mahableshwar .....if u plan for mahableshwar then visit pratapgad also  more »
  • The place is fully commercialized with hotels and shops everywhere inside the historic fort. Instead of making a monument of the great Shivaji inside, I wish they had maintained his fort properly. There are some good parts to this location too. You have to climb and walk on the narrow path that goes along the walls to get the most amazing views. It is like all the view points of Mahabaleshwar stringed together. 4/5 stars. It would be 5/5 if the place wasn't so commercialized.
  • Pratapgad Fort is very easy trek up top. Even kids and elderly can spend some good time trekking up. There are places from where there is a great view. The breeze is always cool up. It is also kept clean by the tourists and locals equally.
  • Pratapgad is usually visited as a day-trip from the hill station of Mahabaleshwar, a popular tourist destination located 25 kilometres away. ST bus service have run daily excursion services to places around Mahabaleshwar including Pratapgad for decades. Many schools also arrange educational trips to the fort. The fort is also on many trekking routes of the area. Its has a beautiful view from the top of the fort, also its a very pollution free area. It has also parking facilities as well as washrooms and food biting shops are available too.
  • Nice natural and historical place. Nice way to follow after Mahabaleshwar. Cons: 1. People are living inside fort 2. Artificial iron sheet houses are taking the beauty of the fort out. 3 . Lots of custom work going on. Some is natural but most is artificial 4. Parking facility is not managed 5. Police are taking bribe while entering the way to the fort and out.
  • The mark of a truly great empire. Standing strong through hundreds of years, Pratapgad for is an absolute engineering marvel given the sheer size of the fort and its construction atop a hill with such a high gradient. Only issues with visiting the place are traffic management and parking facilities.
