Pratapgad Fort is nearly 15 km from mahabaleshwar. So you must visit this place if you are in mahabaleshwar. Make sure you make road trip to patapgad because you will enjoy the nature on that 15 km road. Fort is very good and well maintained. You will see some history written in each part of the fort so must read it. There is plenty food available on the fort specially I suggest to eat Zunka bhakar
It is mentioned that construction of this Fort was completed by year 1656. Pratapgadh has been the place for many significant events during the Maratha empire and subsequently. Pratapgadh is best visited when you are in Mahabaleshwar - it is about 25 Km from Mahabaleshwar. On a clear day one can see the horse mounted majestic statue of Shri Shivaji from Mahabaleshwar with a binocular.
