Admire the peaks of Greater Himalayas from Kunjapuri Devi Temple, one of the two famous Hindu temples in Rishikesh area well known among travelers and passers-by. Dedicated to Goddess Durga, the temple is believed to be the place where the chest of self-immolated Shakti’s burned Sati had fallen. Perched on a hillock at 1,676 m (5,499 ft) above the sea level, the temple has a large observation platform offering sweeping views of snow-capped peaks of Swarga Rohini, Gangotri, Banderpunch and Chaukhamba as well as green terraced fields below. Leave an offering or feed numerous snow monkeys coming here to feed regularly. • Temple is situated above 15 km. from Narendra Nagar on the top of hill. You can go there by car only.
  • We are around 4 o'clock in the morning to the Kunjapuri Temple broken up to see the sunrise. The taxi ride takes about an hour from Rishikesh. Unfortunately, it was very cloudy and there was nothing to see. Fog was also during the trip. Be sure to check weather conditions! Organize yourself taxi or scooter hire. Guide etc. not necessary. No entrance fee. Temple is nothing special. The Outlook should be apparently quite good.
