Kunjapuri Devi Temple, Rishikesh

(4.7/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
Admire the peaks of the Greater Himalayas from Kunjapuri Devi Temple, one of the two famous Hindu temples in the Rishikesh area. Dedicated to the goddess Durga, the temple is believed to be the place where the chest of the self-immolated Shakti’s burned Sati fell. Perched on a hillock at 1,676 m (5,499 ft) above sea level, the temple has a large observation platform offering sweeping views over the snow-capped peaks of Swarga Rohini, Gangotri, Banderpunch, and Chaukhamba, as well as green terraced fields below. Leave an offering or feed numerous snow monkeys, who come here regularly to feed. Arrange your visit to Kunjapuri Devi Temple and discover more family-friendly attractions in Rishikesh using our Rishikesh trip itinerary builder.

  • I went up for sunrise and felt it was definitely worth the effort to get there. I would have liked to have hiked down instead of taking the car, but I was alone and it didn't seem like a good idea.
  • This temple is worth the drive for the scenic view. We drove here at 5am and got to see beautiful sun rise.
  • One of the most beautiful places to visit in Rishikesh. The road is twisty but with incredible landscapes. Choose to go one day in the sky is clean to take advantage of even more.
