Agnitheertham, Rameswaram

(3.7/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
Awaken your inner spiritual side and take part in a Hindu religious experience at Agnitheertham. Step into the calm sea where, according to local tradition, pilgrims wash away their sins. Afterwards, proceed to the temple and bathe in one of its 22 holy wells to complete the ritual. There is a total of 64 holy bodies of water on site; however, the 22 located inside the temple itself indicate the number of arrows in Lord Rama's quiver. Devotees consider bathing in the temple's waters a major aspect of pilgrimage. Make Agnitheertham a part of your Rameswaram vacation plans using our Rameswaram holiday planner.

  • This place is a holy place. Swami Vivekananda visited this place and even though this place has dust but there is something great in this land. There is no 22 Wells in this theertham. Actually as per Hindu ritual to visit lord Siva we should do bath in this holy water. Once had bath visit Ramanathapuram Swamy temple where it has 22 holy Wells each represent different rivers as mentioned in the Hindu Epic puranas. we stayed 3 days near to this place. Spending evening time is awesome here. It's peaceful.
  • A very important tirthasthan in any Sanatan Hindu's pilgrimage schedule. Here the mighty sea behaves like a pond. Unbelievable but true... Strongly recommended..
  • Recenty i visted the Agni Theertham in Rameswaram Temple. It is a famous temple. It is said that there are several wells situated in this temple
  • This side of the sea is considered to be one of the 22 theertam in the temple. Poorly maintained by the local officials and cleanliness is always a problem for a croweded yatri place.
  • Excellent place to swim. We enjoyed a lot. Water is not too deapth. Excellent
