  • Its beautiful fort but its takes almost 4 hours trek to reach the top of the fort. One must visit the fort.
  • How does one get there: From NH48 (Pune-Bangalore highway) turn look for Nasrapur exit. At 30KM drive will take you to Velhe village. Ask locals for the starting point of the trek. There are other way...  more »

  • TORNA or PRACHANDGAD is mind blowing for people who love trekking. The terrain is quite difficult. This was my first trek at night and really had a good experience walking through the tall grasses with torchlight under the zed black sky. The path to Zunjar machi and Budhla machi is breathtaking. Please carry ample amount of water and food.
  • best for hiking and camping. plz carry extra bag for trash. don't make our fort messy, it was very hard to earn them and also it is very hard to build. atleast plz keep it clean
  • This place is most beautiful in monsoon. Valley in one side and a lake on the other, you will be amazed by the landscape I visited the fort as a destination to our trek from Rajgad. The route is mostly through the hill ridges. There are few places with steep ascends and descends in the route.
  • Torna Fort is one of the largest and the highest fort in Pune district in the state of Maharashtra, India. The height of Torna from sea level is 1405 metres and offers spectacular views of Sahyadri Mountains. The fort is also known as 'Prachandgad'. This is first fort captured by 'Shree Chatrapti Shivaji Maharaj' at the age of 16 in 1643. The fort is located near Velhe village. The fort is about 50 km southwest of Pune in the Sahyadri mountain range at the base village Velhe . One can go from Pune via Satara road take right at Nasrapur. It is the highest fort in Pune district. This fort is too good for trekking. This place is really good if you want some trill in Trekking. Don't forget to carry caps as it gets very hot on top. The trek is very steep. Some part of trek is easy but at some point you need to take help of railing and side wall to climb. Many waterfalls on way during monsoon. A three hour climb will get you to the main entrance or the 'Bini Darwaaja' as its known but view from top is awesome. Make sure to take food and large amounts of water as there is very few options on the top. Carry your own supplies since there is nothing available at the top. There is a small temple where you can stay for the night but do that at your own risk . If you are planning to visit Torna fort, be careful. Use good grip shoes. If you go in rainy season then it is really difficult to trek. Avoid to there during heavy rain fall.
  • Torna is highest fort in Pune district, it is also known as Prachandgad. The trekking experience is really awesome in monsoon season. One of the best one day trek location near pune.
