Parvati Temple, Pune

4.1
#8 of 39 in Historic Sites in Pune
Religious Site Tourist Spot
Offering one of the most scenic views in Pune, Parvati Temple stands at 2,100 m (6,890 ft) altitude and 79 m (260 ft) above the city. A reminder of the glory of Marathi emperors, this favorite relaxation spot for Punekars ranks as the oldest heritage site in the area. Step into the main temple (dating back to 1749) to see a museum dedicated to its founders, the Peshwa dynasty. To reach the hilltop, you have to climb 103 wide steps made of weather-resistant, black quarry stone, another example of fine stonework. Where to stay in Pune

South-east of the main train station sit most of the accommodations on offer in Pune, with the choice largely revolving around standard hotels featuring small pools and restaurants. You can find some more luxurious options in the more spread-out areas to the north of the city center, and along the rivers that flow through town. Hostels and guesthouses provide budget-friendly options, with the bulk located near the university accommodation districts, and the side streets of the older parts of town.
