Parvati Temple, Pune
Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Offering one of the most scenic views in Pune, Parvati Temple stands at 2,100 m (6,890 ft) altitude and 79 m (260 ft) above the city. A reminder of the glory of Marathi emperors, this favorite relaxation spot for Punekars ranks as the oldest heritage site in the area. Step into the main temple (dating back to 1749) to see a museum dedicated to its founders, the Peshwa dynasty. To reach the hilltop, you have to climb 103 wide steps made of weather-resistant, black quarry stone, another example of fine stonework. A magnificent place with historical significance right in the city of Pune. You have to climb around some100 or so nice blackstoned steps. Once stop, you have several places to visit. The main temple is Lord Shiv Parvati - Dev Deveshwar. It was built by Balajirao Peshwa sometime 1749. Besides this there are temples of Shri Ram, Shri Kartikeya, Shri Vitthal and Shri Vishnu. There is a hall where Balajirao Peshwa breathed his last (1720-1761). A museum dedicated Peshwa historical artifacts gives you an idea of Peshawa, the warriors. Do not miss this place when you are in Pune.
Best place in the city. Temple is situated in the hill, the only way to go their is by stairs. If you want to go to the terrace then pay only 5/- but it should be at your own risk. The terrace view is awsome, from their you can see the pune city and feel light and peace.
Must visit place in pune. The view on top of the hill is mesmerizing. Its little difficult to climb up the hill but the view is worth the climb
A great place for spending half a day. Beware you need to climb a lot to get the special view of Pune, there is a temple above too. Try to visit in the evening to join sunset and lightened view of Pune at night.
Go early morning. Not ideal for old parents who cannot climb 100 stairs. View from top is fantastic
