Bhuleshwar Temple, Pune
Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Perched on a hilltop and surrounded by a fortified stone wall, Bhuleshwar Temple dates back to the thirteenth century and has both historical and mythological significance (Goddess Parvati seduced Lord Shiva here by dancing for him). At this non-commercialized, operating Shiva temple, you can offer your prayers and admire the magnificent rock-cut architecture and intricate carvings inside. Pay special attention to overhead wall panels as the only place in India where all the male gods appear in their female avatar. A bird watcher’s paradise, the surrounding area hosts various migratory species during the summer (including tawny eagles). Bring your own food as nothing is available near the temple. The temple is couple of hours drive from Pune. Not many people know about this place. But its a peaceful Shiva temple. There is a huge Nandi in the temple
One if the oldest Lord Shiva temples in India. There are no Hotels, restrooms around it so make your own arrangements. Beautiful scenic view from the top of the mountain.
A very nice trip. Ghats section to the temple was thrilling. Any time climate is pleasant. Old templ. Please kindly visit once .the temple has very amazing architectural view. Good Site In RAINY season. And there are also amazing classical carvings on the wall.
Classic place one would like to visit. Calm, serene, natural temple with a lot of carvings. Must visit during winter or rainy season. The temple is very old and is on top of the hill.
A very nice trip especially the 3km ghat section close to the temple was thrilling. Climate is encouraging to stay for some more time. Carry food stuff if you like as there were no hotels or food stalls available.
Very good place for a half day family outing. You'll need to carry food as there is no restaurant nearby.
