Hard rock (or Thirumayam Fort) is located between Pudukkottai district and Karaikudi. Admission is paid, 200 rupees per person and only 25 rupees for the premises. It's an impressive fortress of the 17th century dominates the city of Thirumayam and allows to have a very nice view on the surrounding countryside. The Fort is positioned on a large block of granite. See for example the wall and a small cave temple carved into the rock that dates from the time of Pallavas. Worth a visit and a stop to relax.

Excellent, ancient, historical place. Has neer Sunai (small water source on hill top), mysteriously planted huge sperical rock, ancient fire arms, monitoring towers are some of the high lights of this place. Has nice car parking, nearby to Pudukkottai town. Has historical, ancient Shiva and Vishnu temples on the other side of the fort!
