  • dug into one of those islands of granite that rise almost suddenly in this area of tamil Nadu, the Sinnavasal Cave was used by the monks of grip for perhaps eight centuries, Jain from II to x. carved in rock and protected by Archeological Survey of India only recently, is a small cave, composed of two parts: the first, a kind of porch or portico , was completely frescoed but abandonment lasted so long led to the destruction of much of the frescoes: those who remain, on the ceiling, date back to the 7th century and look great, almost the height of Ajanta Buddhist ones. Too bad the inflexible keepers don't allow us to photograph them. The second environment, the cell itself is carved in granite surveys completed with the Lotus flower on the ceiling. Extraordinary Acoustics: try to sound and feel like all the space is invaded by a special reverberation. Finally, on the other side of the rock, at the end of a path carved into granite and protected by a handrail, there are ' read ' where the monks were left to die when they believed ended their experience in this lifetime. A place of great charm and suggestion
