4.1
#2 of 13 in Outdoors in Port Blair
Stroll on the picturesque, tropical shore of Wandoor Beach, replete with white sands, blue seas, and unique wildlife. Go for a swim, then relax and observe the striking vistas of distant islands scattered across the wide sea. Snap a few photos of the bizarre form of the uprooted tree on the beach, and keep your eyes peeled for the various animal life around the beach, including the colorful Nicobar pigeon, only found on this group of islands. Palms and other trees offer some shade, and small stalls sell souvenirs. To visit Wandoor Beach on your trip to Port Blair, use our Port Blair vacation planner.

  • Very good and clean beach. There are some huts and benches for people to seat, relax and enjoy the sea view. There are done ships as well. Tough when we visited this beach police were not allowing people to go inside water as few days before crocodile ate someone on the beach. I think they are applying to fences now in which only people can go in water.
  • The beach is average and a bit compact. Come here preferably to see one of the quieter beaches close to Port Blair or alternatively to take the ferry to Red Skin island. Only thing of note is the craft and jewellery store run by locals who use sea shells, corals to fashion their pieces. Cheaper to purchase curious here than on the city.
  • Its nice beach but highly occupied by marine crocodiles. Its not safe to swim. However one can spend time here. View is great.
  • Nice beach to see sunset on horizon with sea. A bit dirty which can be worked upon to clean. Has good development potential. The say that the water is infested with saltwater crocodiles.
  • Very nice Beach. A must visit point in South Andaman. The sunset view is awesome.

Where to stay in Port Blair

The old colonial center of Port Blair possesses a decent array of places to stay: spruced-up old buildings housing stylish boutiques with sea views; family-run guesthouses providing both shared and private rooms; and a few newly built hotels, offering rooms from standard to luxury. Inland to the south sit a few clusters of accommodations, where luxury retreats sit side by side with simple guesthouses, while the coastal areas around the state capital have a number of beachfront lodgings set around scenic bays.
