Reached by ferry from Port Blair, the island offers a profound insight into British penal colonial system and a number of scenic picnic spots. Check out a domed dilapidated red brick prison administration building on the hilltop and the site of infamous Viper Island Gallows, a beam inside the building from which they hanged prisoners. A number of tables detail deaths of Indian patriots against British occupation tell a story about struggle for independence. The island was named after a British ship wrecked near the island in 1789 so you do not need to worry about snakes.   • I visited to this island of thinking of North Bay and Ross island. As i reach this island i seen that this island is very dirty, zero maintenance island. I never suggest anyone to visit this place.
