Chidiya Tapu, Port Blair

3.9
#1 of 7 in Wildlife in Port Blair
For the best view of the sunset from Port Blair, head to Chidiya Tapu. This quiet spot overlooks the ocean and a small hill, which hides the sun during picturesque sunset. The scenery, complemented by a few lone trees, makes for fantastic photo opportunities. Arrive a little early and take advantage of the daylight to look for local animal and plat life, such as white spotted deer, birds, and exotic orchids. Also look for a park and a beach near here, known for its excellent sea shell trove. Chidiya Tapu is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Port Blair Edition.

  • Nice place with full greenery and excellent scenic beauty. The sea and the islands gives a spectacular picturesque view. Good place to pass time with friends or family enjoying the surrounding areas amidst nature.
  • The place is good. Take a battery golf car and see the spots easily. You can walk and roam freely and no fixed route but it's advised to start from the right side and enjoy it!! There are many species of flora and fauna inside it. This is surely an exciting place for kids and children. Entry free is 20/- per head.
  • It is a protected area with a long list of restrictions and guards. There is a small netted area for people who want to take a bath although it is not advisable as crocodiles are occasionally spotted. There is a huge amount of dead coral on the beach. A number of uprooted trees are present which have taken on fantastic shapes. There is a viewpoint which involves a 45 minute trek through the forest. It closes at 4 PM and we missed it. However even without that it was a lovely place with the hills in the sea and the forest. There is a sunset point. It is extremely pleasant to just sit on the rocks and look out into the sea and hills with a light breeze blowing on your face. I would recommend this place to everyone.
  • Wonderful place to visit and have fun with family. The beach here has some crocodiles but for the safety of swimmers there are nets here. The water is totally safe and beginners who don't have any idea of swimming can learn to swim here...................................I...........l....o....v....e...d........s....w...
