Chidiya Tapu, Port Blair

3.9
#2 of 13 in Wildlife in Andaman and Nicobar Islands
For the best view of the sunset from Port Blair, head to Chidiya Tapu. This quiet spot overlooks the ocean and a small hill, which hides the sun during picturesque sunset. The scenery, complemented by a few lone trees, makes for fantastic photo opportunities. Arrive a little early and take advantage of the daylight to look for local animal and plat life, such as white spotted deer, birds, and exotic orchids. Also look for a park and a beach near here, known for its excellent sea shell trove. Chidiya Tapu is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Port Blair Edition.

  • The beach is one of its kind for people loving photography. We are not allowed to get into water as crocodiles are sighted there frequently. Sunset point is almost 2kms from the beach. It closes at 5p...  more »
  • Crocodiles were spotted here, so you can't enter the water. It is about 26 KM from Port Blair so takes about 45 minutes. A quiet place, no activity, there is a sunset point on the way.  more »
  • Its a beauty. Only drawback is that, visitors are not allowed to go into the water because of crocodiles seen some times back  more »

  • The place is good. Take a battery golf car and see the spots easily. You can walk and roam freely and no fixed route but it's advised to start from the right side and enjoy it!! There are many species of flora and fauna inside it. This is surely an exciting place for kids and children. Entry free is 20/- per head.
  • A cool place to go with family or friends. Amazing sunset view. And the trekking route to the tip of the island can add a little adventure to the otherwise simple trip. Amazing view from there and takes half an hour to go there.
  • Less traveled but great tourist attraction. Many movie songs in many indian movies are shot here. Sometimes one can see 🐊 showing up rarely on this beach. So it is better to avoid bathing and just enjoy the scenery and the sunset here. The way leading to this beach is also to be mentioned that it looks like a mini hill area where we get through a dense forest. I loved this beach for its broken trees and soft waves and 🌇 point
  • When we visited the place there were only few animals and birds in the park. We had to wait for more than 30 minutes for the battery operated vehicle which gives you the tour of the park, try to get the vehicle which has only seating for your family so that you can spend more time in the park and don't get rushed by other people.
  • Didn't get time to see the park but this place is generally included in the package for journey through the jungles and to view the sunset. This lush green area is certainly great and there are couple of points from where you can see the sunset however views are not unobstructed.
