Paradise Beach, Pondicherry
(4/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
Catch a ferry to reach the long sandy coast of Paradise Beach. The clean, large beach offers plenty of space for beach sports, boasting clean water and intermittent waves that create perfect conditions for body boarding. Take part in boating or other water sports, then grill up a beach barbeque to make up for lost calories. Amenities include change rooms, bathrooms, and a few restaurants, but the selection of dishes is limited, so you might want to bring your own food and enjoy a picnic instead. • A great getaway destination! A great island accessible by the boat ride is a major tourist attraction featuring various water sports activities and other actions. Its clean and has basic amenities available. The best part of the beach is the access to Indian Ocean wherein you can go and spend couple of hours in the water and enjoy the atmosphere. Insider tip: Please order the food from the two shacks before they run out of it.
  • Nice, big beach. Bigger than other beaches in Pondicherry. Good place to hang out with friends. Locals and tourists both can be seen enjoying. It looks less crowded because of its size. Dont keep any valuables on the beach, there are suspicious people wandering around looking for an opportunity to make money.
  • Once an amazing place has turned disappointing. Lesser shops since last year's floods. The boating is quite expensive, that is, when you consider other boating destination. 200 rupees and only cash payment. The shops inside don't have a single card machine. It was once a very beautiful place and the whole money thing was worth it, but since my latest visit, i don't think it's living upto it's reputation.
  • Very touristy beach, so can be crowded...supposedly accessible by foot on land as well if sea levels are low. Otherwise a 200inr ride from the boathouse, relatively cheap restaurants are there where you can buy food and drinks. I preferred Serenity beach which had no services but more of a genuine, unregulated (no lifeguards whistling at people to come back to the shore) time out on the beach.
  • There are 2 ways to reach this beach. 1 is by boat. By boat you will reach the tip of the paradise beach and the place will be crowded. You have only 2 hours to stay there. By road you can reach the other part of paradise beach n walk till the tip. They won't let you walk till the end but you can have the same experience of paradise beach. The beach is divided with a red flag as the people who come from boat cannot cross that flag and for people who come by land cannot go the other way. You can mark your map and go like this. This saves a lot of time and can enjoy more. FYI walk on the wet sand as you can cover a lot of distance fast. Peace.
