Hiking your way up to the mountain valley puts you in great position to begin the famed Amarnath Yatra trek through the rugged landscape. You'll find rocky slopes, scattered trees, and the roiling waters of the Sheeshnag River as you explore the area. Alternatively, kick back with a picnic and soak in the alpine views. Where to stay in Pahalgam

Take a look close to the central lake for some of the main accommodations in Pahalgam. With views over the water, and in close proximity to the main transport routes and commercial area of the hill station, the hotels and guesthouses here provide a varying range of amenities, but they all represent convenient and comfortable options. Heading out of town to the north, the main road reveals a number of other retreat hotels and resorts, while the river running parallel to the west has a good set of secluded guesthouses and hotels along its banks.

  • If you go in Feb March, you would get lots of snow to play with, but if you are visiting in June/July, then completely avoid this spot as you won't get to see anything there. Only they will show you t...  more »
  • Its a good spot and not very good spot and it is surrounded by snow gives a good view. To spend less than 1 hour it is quite good  more »
  • Avoid Chandanwari in June because very small snow in all around. Avoid local people they are continuously behind you  more »
