  • It is said that Bundela King Madhukar Shah built the Chaturbhuj Temple of Orchha for his wife Rani Ganesh Kunwari's Adorable Raja Ram. King Madhukar Shah was a devotee of Krishna while the Queen's devotion was in Ram. Rani went to Ayodhya to receive a statue to be installed in the temple under construction and there she made austerity of Lord Rama. Pleased with the penance, Lord Rama presented him in Balrup and ready to walk Orchha. But before that God had some conditions in front of the queen. One condition was that after reaching Orchha, he would be called Ram Raja and there would be no other king in Orchha. The second condition was that once they are set up they will remain there. Ram Raja Orchha came with his terms. Since the construction of the Chaturbhuj temple was not completed right now, the queen gave Rama the place in her palace. But when the time came for the installation of the idol in the temple, the idol was rooted in its place according to its condition. After this incident, the queen's palace was converted into a Ramaraja temple. Later, the statue of Lord Vishnu was established in the Chattarbuj Temple.
