  • Magnificent Palace whose lack of restoration makes it very impressive. Famous for paintings that can be seen, has an imposing structure. Is not to be missed.

  • The design of the Mahal looks to be more Mughal than Bundela. Nice place to visit. There are too many stairs and those who have problem climbing the stairs, can go by car upto Sheesh Mahal and then ca...  more »

  • Construction of Raja Mahal was started by King Rudrapratap (1501-1531). The main part of the palace was built during the rule of his elder son, King Bharati Chandra (1531-1554). The remainder was built by Raja Madhukar Shah (1554-1522). This five-storey palace is square in shape and is composed of two sections. In addition to the residential rooms, Deevan-e-aam and deevan-e khas are worth seeing. Beautiful paintings have been created in the terrace in one place.
  • Raja Mahal is not as spectacularly built as the Jahangir Mahal though it is one of the oldest buildings in Orchha. Its construction had started in early 16th Century by King Rudra Pratap Singh. It was completed by his successors during the 16th Century. The palace has five stories and the best thing about the palace is beautiful murals on the roofs and walls. Some of them are in good condition while many of them were damaged. ASI can do better to preserve these paintings and maintain this palace.
  • Wow very nice place ever.....The king Bundela Rajya is here
  • Amazing must see if you are in the area. Very few tourist compared to other palaces in other Indian cities. Like a best kept secret. Had a solid tour guide show us around.
  • This is my second visit after almost 25 years. Still it's charming. Sheesh Mahal is now restaurant & accommodation suits.
