Jehangir Mahal, Orchha
Categories: Architectural Buildings, Historic Sites, Tourist Spots
Witness one of the most vivid examples of 17th-century Mughal architecture at Jehangir Mahal, built to honor Prince Jahangir's visit to Orchha. In addition to an abundance of hanging balconies, porches, and apartments, the majestic three-story citadel features three domed towers--built according to Timurid traditions, they are large enough to accommodate war elephants. You can easily spot the citadel from miles away; once up close, you can spy monkeys resting on its walls. Hire a local guide to give you a full experience of this well-maintained, richly historical attraction.
