Red Fort, New Delhi

3.9
With massive sandstone walls, Red Fort represents a major Mughal-era structure with a place on the World Heritage List. Built by Shah Jahan of Taj Mahal fame in 1648, the fort long served as an imposing center of Mughal power. Though you cannot explore much of the fort due to its importance as a military base, you can still marvel at the host of colonnades and pavilions that survived the colonial-era gutting by the British. You'll also get an up-close look at some of the watchtowers and defensive positions that punctuate the wall. Keep in mind that your entry ticket includes admission to the fort's internal museums. • Absolutely gorgeous place to visit. Once you get past the hustle and bustle of entrance and shops it opens out into some of the most serene gardens and architecture. Even the smokey air reddening the sunset adds a feel of warmth and romance. Would have got 5 stars if they had toilet paper!
  • The red fort is an impressively sized building with some fantastic architecture. There is technically not much to do there, but the main draw is the fantastic building itself, the columns and the design really are beautiful. The manicured gardens and grounds are also a really pleasant way to spend an afternoon, a little oasis away from the hustle of Delhi. It may be worth bringing a small picnic and relaxing here for a few hours as many families seem to do. It is well worth a visit if you are in Old Delhi.
  • I think mostly all people know about red fort and it's history. So I won't tell you about that, but I will explain u something that will help you. To enter inside red fort you need to get the tickets and if you will pay offline it will cost u around 50 rupees for just visiting and around 80 rupees for museum. But online you need to pay only 35 rupees and 56 rupees for museum so you can book online it will be easy for you. And u will find interesting things inside. In the starting you will find people selling jewelry and other stuff so if you want you can purchase it
  • Nice place. An architectural marvel, a fortress and beyond. It is the perfect embodiment of changes that each generation of the mughal dynasty brought in terms of architecture and lifestyle. The chambers and stories attached to them are enticing. Each wall really has a story to tell. Hence ,one must really take a professional guide to be informed accordingly .The part that belonged to emperor Akbar is the one where one should invest time. Also one must have patience and energy to work. Although it was sad that the government locked a good amount of the fort and made it inaccessible to the general public.
  • Good place to visit. Online booking is also possible but be aware to check option of museum option also. Museum option will take additional money but it's worth to watch which I missed. I got chance to visit free museum and it was really good for me.
