Raj Ghat, New Delhi

4.1
See a moving memorial to the father of the nation at Raj Ghat. Situated at the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated, the memorial consists of a stone footpath that leads visitors through well-maintained lawns to a walled enclosure. In the enclosure sits a black marble platform, exposed to the elements and with an eternal flame burning at one end. Take off your footwear before entering the enclosure to pay your respects to the leader of the Indian independence movement. Put Raj Ghat and other New Delhi attractions into our New Delhi sightseeing planning tool , and watch your holiday take shape.

  • It is a beautiful place. Early morning is the best time to visit this place. footwear is not allowed inside. You have to keep it in the counter in the front and give any amount you would like. There is a possibility to see that from top and it will be a beautiful view as well. If you go in the mornings then you can leisurely see the place. Otherwise there will be too many people clicking pictures and you won't have your time to see the beauty.
  • Raj Ghat is a great stop in the heart of New Delhi. It is the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. Lining the entrance is beautiful quotes from Gandhi. You can view the memorial from the elevated grounds that surround the memorial or take off your shoes and give a donation (any amount) to hold your shoes while you walk up to the memorial. Photos and video can be taken. There is no charge to enter the park.
  • Regardless of the culture to which you are born, once hearing the life story of 'The father of India', Mahatma Gandhi, you know he was a man of greatness. Not only did he change the history of India forever, but left his mark on the whole world. That he was assassinated, makes this memorial even more poignant. Many of the principles by which he lived can be found at the site. A place where everyone should make a pilgrimage to pay homage.
  • Good place. Well maintained and totally filled with green grass, many trees with so many different shapes. Its good for group visits and you can spend the whole day here. The place is too clean and green. The place is great like the great MAHATMA GANDHI and this memorial will never be forgotten by anyone in this memories.
  • It's a place to enjoy with your friends and family. Very calm, clean surroundings and well maintained. Good for meditation. A must watch is " Mahatma Gandhi " samadhi. People from all over the world come there to visit. Peak days are weekends. You can watch lots of school children playing and enjoying there. If you are first time in Delhi, make it in your list of places to visit.
