Jain Temple - Delhi, New Delhi

Built in the 1650s, Jain Temple - Delhi houses a bird hospital set up to further the religion's principle of preserving life--all life. The hospital treats about 30,000 birds each year, admitting vegetarian avians and squirrels (predators enjoy an "outpatient" status). Don't forget to take your shoes off, and remove other leather items, before you enter the temple. • The Jain Temple is located in front of the Red Fort. To your beautiful construction is in red sandstone and is the oldest Jain temple in Delhi. It is forbidden to photograph your interior.

  • While visiting Red Fort, do visit Jain Temple too if you have faith in Jainism. It’s located just across the Red Fort. Nearest metro station is Mandi House.  more »
  • For fans like me of temples white and Jains with etched in mind those of Mount Abu, this outside is not that impressive, indeed, however the first floor rooms are well worth a visit, especially if this is not the first time you come to Delhi.
