Humayun's Tomb, New Delhi

Marvel at one of the nation's most renowned mausoleums at Humayun's Tomb, a World Heritage Site displaying a fusion of both Mughal and Persian architectural features. Built in 1565 on orders from Akbar, the son of the Emperor Humayun, the mausoleum represents the first in a long line of "garden-tombs" that defined Mughal architecture over the following centuries. You can admire the intricate red sandstone and white marble construction, topped with an impressive dome, as you wander the extensive grounds dotted with shrines and monuments. Enter the memorial to get a glimpse of Humayun's final resting place. Many of the architectural designs used on the tomb and its surrounding buildings helped to inspire the Taj Mahal. • Best to visit in morning when nobody is around. Opens at 6.30. Good huge place to explore. 30rs. for Indian is a good price to visit.Clean tidy place. Visited here 3rd time and always a peaceful place to bring people. A detailed book of importance of this place should be provided which should be reusable for tourists again and again. Toilets available in good condition. Less crowded, nice green fields with bushes and trees around the old structure make you feel of living in past time. Just Rs.30 entry per person (Indian) is cheap. It's great place if you want come along with your family but make sure to stuff your stomach with enough food as no eatables are allowed in there. I like reading under the trees as usually this is a quite place with cushioned grasses all over the year.

  • A great place to visit for all history lovers and cultural heritage lovers. The place is well maintained and kept clean even on the busiest of days. Ample parking space is provided. The best time to visit would be early morning or late evening. Though the visit is on chargeable basis, it is totally worth it. One can enhance the architectural masterpiece along with beautiful nature around. Visit with your family to get the best out of it.
Humayun's Tomb Building Complex is a tomb monument inspired by Mughal architecture. It is located near the Deenapnah of New Delhi i.e. the old fort near Nizamuddin in the eastern region near Mathura Marg. In the time of the Ghulam dynasty, this land used to be in Kilokirikila and the son of Nasiruddin (1268-1287) was the capital of the then Sultan Keakubah. Here the main building is the tomb of the Mughal emperor Humayun and there are tombs for Humayun's tomb, along with many other princes. This group is declared World Heritage [1], and is the first example of Mughal architecture in India. This is the same charbagh style in the tomb, which gave birth to the Taj Mahal in the future.
