Categories: Museums, Educational Sites, Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Pay a visit to Gandhi Smriti, the house where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last months of his life, before being assassinated here in 1948. Built in 1928 by a member of the esteemed Birla family, who often welcomed Gandhi into his home, the building was sold to the Indian government in 1971. Today it stands as a memorial and museum dedicated to the life of Gandhi and his last moments on Earth. Take a tour of the house and grounds to admire numerous items from his life, or view the "Martyr's Column," a monument marking the exact spot in the garden where he was standing when he was shot. For travelers who use our world travel planner, New Delhi holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Gandhi Smriti and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

My kids learned lot about gandhi and other freedom fighters. We spent over 2 hours. Guides can do better job explaining.
This house is a museum commemorating Gandhi's life and final hours. It includesa series of dioramas depicting his life as well as the rooms that he used to stay when in Delhi.

It is the best place evet of mahamtma gandhi ji I loved that plce very much
A really great museum! I especially liked the room where gandhis life was portrayed with little figures and decoration. The world peace gong was also very cool.
Such a Marvelous experience to see all about 'Baapu'. One should come here Once in their life to experience peace and to learn about Baapu's Teachings. Although now people behave like like it's a picnic spot because they aren't serious about what is this Smriti all about.
The place where the father of India was shot also known as Birla House, very well kept and a museum housed in the same. Must visit to pay respect to the father of Indiavery well maintained neat and clean as Gandhi ji liked!!
