Gali Paranthe Wali, New Delhi
Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Enter the parantha paradise in Gali Paranthe Wali, a narrow street lined with eateries selling famous flatbread dishes of North India. Crispy deep fried paranthas with curries, chutneys, pickles, subzi, all sorts of salads and a myriad of sauces. The food here is strictly vegetarian and features great many exotic fillings. Watch the cooks chop and fry. Grab a seat and socialize. Do not forget to order lassi, a yoghurt-based drink to wash down the spices. Deep fried Paranthas (stuffed indian bread) served with chutni (spicy sauce) lots of different types of Paranthas. Honestly I was expecting Paranthas but they were more like stuffed Puri. At least I can say I've been to Paranthas Wali Gali..
From the look of this place, I fell in second thought of weather to walk in or leave. But then, I remembered all those recommendations from my friends that I should visit this place during my stay in New Delhi. And, walking in, was the best decision. The Paranthas were fantastic. And, the varieties were simply amazing. Among the different paranthas that we tasted, we loved the okra parantha. Between me and the other friend I was with, we ate around 6 paranthas. The place doesn't look very hygienic. But, I didn't fell sick or anything after eating here and I would definitely be returning again.
