See the site of one of the most famous battlefields in Indian history at Rakht-Talai (Haldighati), a memorial commemorating the battle between the Maharana of Mewar’s armies and Mughals in 1597. Set on a plain next to Banas River, twin pavilions with cenotaphs and a memorial marble slab erected within a garden mark the place of an epic bloodbath. A private museum with life-size sculptures of period warriors and a public monument to the Hindu leader in the battle are nearby. Traditional dances and horseback riding games are occasionally performed nearby. Camel rides are also offered.
