  • This is a huge Nandi Bhagavan, and he is so handsome. You have to walk down the Chamundeswari temple a bit to reach the Nandi temple, but it's worth the walk. A very nice experience to pray here.  more »
  • On top of the hill with statue is also where this temple is situated. It symbolizes a religious significance to the Indian people  more »
  • This temple is a little away from the main Chamundi Devi temple so not many people visit it. But it has it own charm when you see the huge statue being carved out of a single rock.  more »

  • Beautiful statue. Love the atmosphere. Humongous Nandhi statue is captivating. Need to park vehicles by side of road. Temple is open at specific time but statue viewing is always open to.
  • A brilliant place! A must visit and a pride point for all Mysoreans. The view is amazing!
  • Well maintained. Priests offer pooja everyday. The food offered as prasad on special days are really good. One has to visit the place during trip to Mysore and learn about it's history and importance. 400 steps below the Chamundi temple from top. Bus facilities are not available from the spot. One has to climb uphill to reach the bus stand.
  • Wow,, what a place. I am very much excited to visit the place once again. Loved it. Very good place for tourists
  • 7.3 x 4.6 metre Seated Bull Statue - Crafted from a Single Boulder - Our group of four, touring Mysuru, visited the famed Nandi Temple located in Chamundi Hill in Mysore, on 15th December 2018. After parking our vehicle, we walked up about 50 metres to reach Nandi statue. On either side of the road are little shops selling souvenirs as well as flowers and other items for offer to the revered statue. There is no charge to visit this attraction. Footwear, however need to be removed as is customary before entry into any local temple. According to our guide, Joseph, this monolithic statue, meaning that it had been crafted and sculpted from a single boulder, is over 350 years old. It sits, by the side of the road on a 4 foot (1.2m) high rectangular platform. It is quite massive, said to measure 24 feet (7.3m) in length and 15 feet (4.6m) in height. It sits in open air with no overhead covering. The statue is beautifully and artfully crafted in sitting position. Crafted with the left foreleg folded, the sculptor conveys the feeling that it is about to get up. With the ears folded back, the facial expression is one of rapt attention. Carefully and masterfully carved garlands of bells, strings, chains etc adorn its neck. I walked around the statue enjoying its beauty and marvelling the patience and mastery of the sculptor. There is a platform in front of the statue, with a bench, where I sat on looking at it for some time. Nandi is revered by Hindus as it is the vehicle of the most honoured god “Shiva”. We spent about 45 minutes here and left after recovering our footwear.
