Melkote Kalyani, Mysuru (Mysore)

Marvel at ancient stone carvings and relax around water features with devotees at Melkote Kalyani, a huge complex of Hindu temples and ponds, and the residence of Lord Thirunarayana. Perched on Narayanagiri Hills, this important 11th-century pilgrimage site features thousand-year-old temples hanging from boulder-strewn slopes. The complex also houses the Academy of Sanskrit Research, an archive storing thousands of important manuscripts. You can hear devotional songs and see classical dance performances at the still-active temples, which are often featured in Bollywood films. Devotees flock here in even larger numbers during the Vairamudi festival. • Historic place which is not maintained very well. Needs lot of cleanliness drives to make this place to look more beautiful. Lot of plastic, waste has accumulated in water which is spoiling the beauty of the pond. A serious effort needs to be taken to keep this place clean. Overall a great place to sit and relax as it's always cool even in the afternoons.
  • Superb place to enjoy in Melukote. The place is really cool and can have a great time. The water is good and clean and swimming can be done. Large place and decent scenic views. This place is filled with water even in summer seasons and can be visited to have fun in hot Summers also.
  • Lots need to be concentrated on cleanliness as place is not maintained well. swimming is allowed in the pool. Nice place with cool breeze and ambience. Scorching sunlight are unbearable but shades are pretty ok. The view from Kalyani towards temple gopura is awesome. You can find lots of goats grassing around temple pond.
  • The kalyani was neat and we can feed the fish . The Yoga Narasinmah swami temple is an historic place .👍😊
