Kempty Falls, Mussoorie

2.5
#1 of 26 in Parks in Dehradun District
Waterfall Nature / Park
At Kempty Falls, immerse yourself in the natural wonders which surround this perennial waterfall. Named after elaborate British tea parties, the falls became a popular picnic spot about 1835. Bring your swimsuit to dive under its cascades (but remember to carry an extra set of clothing). If you intend to fish, stop by the sacred river Yamuna, which is 12 km (7.5 mi) from the falls. You will need a permit from the Divisional Forest Officer to fish. You'll find food and game stalls around the area, as well as souvenir shops where you can purchase a Tibetan memento. Make Kempty Falls a centerpiece of your Mussoorie vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Mussoorie family vacation planner.

  • Firstly it is an amazing place to be, the huge waterfalls are just fun to watch. The place however is too cramped to reach in there, just too many shops around and narrow lane.  more »

  • Very weird place, I think the water in the fall was being rotated via pump. It's was very crowded and there are no clean changing facility is available. There are tiny shops which have made a temporary wooden changing box for which they charge from Rs 100 and then you can rent swimming costumes, tubes, towels which costs a lot. There are no rules and regulations for the fall, so you can get in with full clothes and even without proper swimming costume. Avoid the Rope way as it costs Rs 120 per person and you can easily go via stairs which are free. The water looked dirty and I would never go again there. You can take your own towel and a swimming costume if you have one otherwise just take extra pair of undergarment and take a dip in the dirty water and get out. Fully commercial place, designed to rob visitors. My wife was standing by the fall with the baby and there was a bench nearby, when she tried to sit on it, a person came running and asked her to pay Rs 100 to sit. It's sheer madness there. Avoid it.
  • Best place to enjoy your summer, There are many pools here in Kempty falls. If you want to enjoy the chilling water I would suggest you bring clothes and towel for yourself otherwise pay nominal rental charge and change your cloths. Avoid the Rope way as it costs Rs 120 per person and you can easily go via stairs which are free.
  •  A great picnic spot!! One can observe the beauty of nature around while listening to sound of gushing waters. High mountain cliffs encircle the beautiful falls at an altitude of about 4500 feet above the sea level.
  • Best place to enjoy your summer, But the place is rushy. If you want to enjoy the chilling water I would prefer you bring clothes and towel for yourself. However clothes on rent and changing rooms are available here on very nominal rates.
  • It's a quiet a famous place for tourists. But where there are people there ought to be some garbage but this place didn't have some garbage, it was filled with garbage and it smelled weird. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED. No good parking options and where there is parking it's so costly that you will wonder whether coming here was a good idea. As for me it turned out be a bad one.
