Top Station, Munnar
Categories: Lookouts, Tourist Spots
The highest point in Munnar, Top Station once represented a major stop on the route used to transport locally grown tea. Today, the site now offers panoramic views of the monumental Western Ghats mountain range and the valleys of the Theni District. From 1,700 m (5577.4 ft) above sea level, the spot allows you to observe India's diverse landscapes, with frequently rolling clouds creating countless picture-perfect moments. The area is also famous for the rare Neelakurinji flowers, covering the region in a purple hue every 12 years. Beautiful Journey in between tea plantations. Most of the attractions in Munnar are on the way to Top Station. Best place for photo shoots...

A rather long journey to get here, well worth it. Nice cool weather, and when there is no fog, the views are fabulous. Usually foggy. There are some tea stalls along the main road and having a hot sweet tea with this view and cool weather is amazing. Must come.
Going downhill is fun, but be prepared for a long step trek back up. It is really a long way down, but there is a shelter half way down and some people would definitely need to make use of it. It's really worth going all the way down: one shouldn't leave Munnar without a visit to Top Station. The information board at the starting point is hilarious.
Entry fee was a surprise but it was not much. The trek to viewpoints will be very difficult for the elderly, so keep them out of this. The view when you get their is breathtaking. Once you get their, you wont feel like leaving, partly because of the serenity and partly because of the exhausting return trek. Cardiac patients should avoid the trip. If you have the time for it, this is a worth visiting spot.
Visited more than two times... Beautiful place.. Best time to visit winter morning. Photo updated one of its
This point gives a beautiful view of the entire valley. Be sure to go when the sun it out. You won't be able to see much if it's cloudy. You will need to trek a bit to get to the central point. They conduct camping trips also from here. There are shops on the way to buy refreshments.
