#1 of 11 in Nature in Munnar
Untouched prehistoric scenery waits for you at Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park, a protected high-elevation ecosystem and a World Heritage Site. Home to the largest surviving population of the endangered Niligir tahr, the area's designated visitor zone allows you to uncover the delicate shola-grassland terrain without disturbing the ibex's natural habitat. At a base elevation of roughly 2,000 m (6,561 ft), the rolling hill plateaus rise up to the highest peak in India south of the Himalayas. Start your journey at the park's tourist center, from which you can take a guided tour in a forest vehicle. Bring plenty of water and wear appropriate footwear, and keep in mind that the park closes in February and March for the calving season. • The visit to this park is recommended because you can see endangered goat that we indeed we encountered. In itself there is no particular beauty or attraction that can push him. Many Indian families we met. To gain access you must do a long line as it is brought to the top of some buses provided by the organization because you cannot go with their own cars or taxi going with a guide anyway you can skip the line and Register for time

  • Visit to Eravikulam park gives you a mixed feeling. The view from the top is breathtaking but you can't see many animals. But you see the Eibex for sure. You see the heard grazing on the hill side.  more »
