Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park, Munnar

(2.4/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
Untouched prehistoric scenery waits for you at Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park, a protected high-elevation ecosystem and a World Heritage Site. Home to the largest surviving population of the endangered Niligir tahr, the area's designated visitor zone allows you to uncover the delicate shola-grassland terrain without disturbing the ibex's natural habitat. At a base elevation of roughly 2,000 m (6,561 ft), the rolling hill plateaus rise up to the highest peak in India south of the Himalayas. Start your journey at the park's tourist center, from which you can take a guided tour in a forest vehicle. Bring plenty of water and wear appropriate footwear, and keep in mind that the park closes in February and March for the calving season. Put Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Munnar itinerary planner.
