Echo Point, Munnar

Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
2.4/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web
At Echo Point, it's easy to see how the site got it's name. The natural echo phenomenon occurs along a scenic lakeshore that's surrounded by mountainous ridges. At the height of 1,700 m (5577 ft), the site became globally renowned for its rare Neelakurinji flowers, which bloom once every 12 years. Once you reach the uppermost railway station, feel free to shout and hear the echo of your voice return to you. Be sure to bring your trekking equipment, along with extra food and water, if you wish to explore the surrounding misty hills, waterfalls, and forest. A visit to Echo Point represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Munnar vacation planner to plot your vacation.

  • The day we went was not good because of the traffic block. It took hours to come out of munnar city. The Echo point is good place to visit. It's my second time visiting this place. Entry fees is there...  read more »
  • The banks of mattupetty dam offers a very different perspective of munnar. Unlike the crowded touristy busy boating point, this one is about 2 km ahead. As you wind through the valley roads, lake is accessable from any point but out here, there is space to park your car, only a thin line of pine n silver oak trees to be crossed as u r greeted by a wife open face of Munnar. If lucky, during summer, you can spot elephants n wild boars across the lake. There is a rockface that opened up about 4 years back during heavy rains and the pressure lead to basalt rock break open. Lead to untimely death of a couple. But now the rockface is pretty perfect to start Ur lessons. Geologists n paleobotanist must visit, for the rock has fossilized shell creatures, looks to be of seabed
  • A wonderful view from land and numerous more from a boat. It boasts a great natural scenery but the commercialisation of late, takes away some of the charm.
  • Such a serene atmosphere: absolutely loved it. Superb scenery. The monsoon season made it even more beautiful.
  • Probably the most beautiful easily accessible point around the lake. Such beauty and space. A must visit. There are also boat rides here. Just sit and enjoy the natural beauty of this place. Wonderful.
  • The shops around are better place to spend little time than the echo point. It doesn't echo as you expect or you have to shout like a blast to hear echo. KSEB conducts peddle Boating which is very expensive comparing to similar facility in Kodai and similar places . It's 250 Rs for two people for 30 minutes. Place is good to take photography. Nearby comfort station was utterly messed up and didn't had water when we visited (might be temporary issue).
