Attukal Waterfalls, Munnar

#3 of 16 in Nature in Munnar
Take a trip to Attukal Waterfalls and have a picnic by the rushing cascades. Located 9 km (5.5 mi) away from the hill station, the waterfalls offer an idyllic spot for relaxation, hiking, and photography. Drive up the waterfall area to see the cascade from afar, or trek downhill to the natural basin to cool off and have a dip in the chilly water. During drier weather the falls still make a picturesque place, but they appear in full glory during the monsoon season (June through August), when they roar thunderously down the rough slope of the lush green hills. • I tried hiking from the hotel (Aranyaka resorts). It is around 2 Km from Pallivasal tea estates. There was a little bit of water (i mean it was not dry) , but it was not roaring. Although it might be ...  more »
  • This beautiful water fall is in Munnar Kerala. This is a peaceful waterfall with very low foot fall and close to nature and far from madding crowd  more »
  • The attraction point of the falls is how close to water you can actually go and the drive to it. The view point is actually in between the falls, so you can view the water flow from both angles. There...  more »

  • More than the waterfalls the ride to it is a treat through the beautiful tea estates and tiny curvy roads. We drove to the bottom of the waterfalls. There is a small tea stall at a person's home next to the waterfall. He made us some tea and Maggi and we sat by the rock near the waterfall and enjoyed it. He even showed us around his farm up the hill which had cardamom plants and many fruits. Do visit his place if you happen to go to the waterfalls.
  • The place is really good Although the passage is very narrow and drive is with lot of curves it is a single lane road but accesible with 4 wheeler but we careful of sharp turns and road condition is also not good. U can park the vehicle crossing the bridge on the other side and then come back to enjoy the view. I would say its a nice place although not a must watch
  • If you want a off-road trip with some thrill, then please visit. It is 12km away from Munnar. The place is very nice to enjoy and spend time. Access to the river is restricted. You can take lot of pictures but entry is not accessible. Love this place so much.
  • The place is situated down a hill slope. The road is narrow and is not suitable for large vehicles. So, you can't go here if you are travelling by bus. The descent to the falls is scenic and beautiful with tea plantations on either side of the road. In fact, the descent is more beautiful compared to the actual location. Once you reach down, there is a narrow bridge which crosses the river and you can view the falls on either side of the bridge. This is the highlight of Attukad Falls.
  • The gushing water and view from there was mesmerizing. Would recommend hotel Blanket which has a deck and balcony with the waterfall view. The approach road from NH is very bad and has to be carefully driven. There is a parking area available for 4-5 cars near the church at the falls.
