Mahalakshmi Temple, Mumbai

4.5
At Mahalakshmi Temple, witness how devotees passionately worship the Hindu goddess Mahalaxmi, the central deity of the sacret text called the "Devi Mahatmyam." Look for the statue of the goddess (devi), which the chief engineer dreamt of and actually recovered from the sea during the temple's construction in 1831. Examine the idols adorned with nose rings, pearl necklaces, and gold bangles. If you want to make your own religious contribution, head over to the stalls to purchase flower garlands and make an offering. Even though the site is small, it can get crowded, so time your visit accordingly. • The temple is old and renowned and hence is always crowded. The crowd management is pretty efficient. But the place isn't scenic or impressive. It's just like any other temple. Also the surroundings are not well maintained and it's at the end of a narrow alley and parking is a HUGE problem. You'll have to park your car almost half a kilometre from the temple, at the sea face.
  • Awesome temple and has a nice holy ambience surrounding it all over. All your wishes will come true if you visit here once and pray to the divine goddesses and gods whatever you want to achieve and attain in your lifeπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘πŸ™πŸ™β˜ΊοΈβ˜ΊοΈ. You will also realise your dreams and aspirations if you bow down here in front of the divine mother and will be able to see significant visible improvements in your health and you will become more lucky after you come here and go back to your own world no matter whatever you do in your lives, both personally and professionally!! I wanna give it 5 out of 5 stars.
  • Shree Mahalaxmi Temple is one of the most famous temple..... Usually one can go and worship there... The crowd is usually low but on many special occasion there is very much crowd and it would take hours to worship.... This temple is located near the sea face but is a bit inside from the main road.. its better to go in early mornings.... Nearest local railway station from there is both Mahalaxmi station and mumbai central station
  • Tidy temple. Central location. Area around has provisions for a quick bite.
  • Nice place but the campus is not much clean and tidy. It would be great if any action is taken like Swatch Mahalakshmi Temple rather deploying resources for Watching selfie takers. Photos strictly prohibited 🚫 Darahan was great πŸ‘πŸ½

Where to stay in Mumbai

In a cramped city like Mumbai, finding a budget hotel can present a serious challenge. Many business travelers and tourists choose to stay in South Mumbai, the oldest and richest neighborhood in the city. Accommodations here put you close to most top museums, restaurants, bars, art galleries, and shops. Proximity to major attractions comes at a premium price, though--not surprising for one of the most expensive cities in Asia. If you plan to visit on a tight budget, look for options near railway stations, but prepare for low-grade rooms and few or no amenities.
