A representative example of Indo-Islamic architecture, Haji Ali Mosque dates back to the 15th century, erected to commemorate a prosperous merchant who gave up all his material possessions in order to make a pilgrimage to Mecca. A causeway connects the mosque with the rest of the world, but during high tides, water submerges this ramp and renders it inaccessible. Centuries old, the entire construction is slowly succumbing to erosion, mainly due to saline winds and more than two million visitors per year. Awesome place with the scenic natural beauty with makes your time most memorable one.... The environment is quite good and you can find yourself in complete peace with just the natural notice of air, water and wind and sometime of birds... Must visit place...
If not Indian be WELL covered, more than Indian standards. If white (especially females with light hair and eyes) be prepared for stares and side conversations about yourself as such presence is not common. The mosque is beautiful however much trash among the walk to & from. If fully covered you will find the visit educational, if not plan for a different day when you can be. Faith is important, be respectful of the requirements of dress.
This place is a Tomb of Haji Ali, was a saint, the environment is very good with exclusive views around us, at the shore of Arabian sea in Mumbai. One can visit this place in day time but after 5pm evening this place is closed for visitors. I'm shot some clicks of this wonderful place while I was crossing through it.
It is an amazing place which situated in the sea. This place is surrounded by the sea. So the view is very amazing. When I visited , the time going there was almost midday, therefore water level of the sea in the two sides of the path was low. But when returning water level was increasing and waves are touches the path. It was an amazing experience. Around 1 km distance to walk along the path in the sea to reach there.
This place is so beautiful! It’s situated on the sea shore which gives It a awesome look. But the problem is that it’s not well maintained the way which you pass through is so dirty but every thing is fine other than that. Some times when water flow is not so high there is no water around the Dargah so make sure that when you’re going to watch it there is enough water so you get a beautiful pictures!😉
