  • In this place Rama to have inserted once a break looking after his kidnapped wife Sita. Because he was very thirsty, his friend Laxman shot an arrow into the ground, and at this point, a source of fresh water originated at the Rama could quench his thirst. According to the legend, the water is descended from the Ganges, which is thousands of kilometers away. Hence the name Banganga (Baan = arrow; Ganga Ganges =). Nowadays, this is a religious place for many Hindus, to wash. Depending on the season and tide, the water basin can have different amounts of water. Many fish and ducks and geese live in the basin itself. Those who are interested in the Mumbai a little away from the tourists or for Hindu Mythology, should visit this place.

  • It's 3 star due to old world charm.. But it can be maintained better & should be turned into a heritage tourist attraction.. This is Mumbai beyond the 50's area.. It's stuck in that time.. If we can see that & bring the beauty of that era back to it.. It will be perfect. The Sea around Feels like home for a sailor's daughter like me 😍
  • Very old and beautiful tank in south Mumbai's Walkeshwar area. The place is well known for rituals after death in Hindus. The tank is very huge and with full of water . The tank required cleanliness. The nearby vicinity also requires attention as regards to cleanliness. The local authority should keep close eye on beautification and cleanliness to maintain such a beautiful heritage side. There is need to deploy round the clock security guards.
  • Nice little place that takes you by surprise. Seems like it is locked in time and once there you feel like you've been transported to another, much simpler era. You can sit and relax, just watch the kids play, leaves rustle and sun go down. The water has a calming effect. There ducks and plenty of geese around which have a weird charm of their own. One can't help but wonder how beautiful this place must have looked in its time. Usually kids are playing cricket and people just sitting and relaxing or talking on the phone. There are a few houses within the area on the top of the steps and you can see a few skyscrapers looming in the distance. You often see tourists stop by and take a few pictures and even just sit for a while and take a break from the bustle of the city. Quite a find in the dense and over populated metro of Mumbai. It is always astonishing to see any patch of land that isn't home to a huge apartment building or so and to know that this one has been so for centuries is amazing in itself. I'd recommend visiting this place at least once if you reside in Mumbai itself.

Where to stay in Mumbai

In a cramped city like Mumbai, finding a budget hotel can present a serious challenge. Many business travelers and tourists choose to stay in South Mumbai, the oldest and richest neighborhood in the city. Accommodations here put you close to most top museums, restaurants, bars, art galleries, and shops. Proximity to major attractions comes at a premium price, though--not surprising for one of the most expensive cities in Asia. If you plan to visit on a tight budget, look for options near railway stations, but prepare for low-grade rooms and few or no amenities.
