Where to stay in Mumbai (Bombay)

In a cramped city like Mumbai, finding a budget hotel can present a serious challenge. Many business travelers and tourists choose to stay in South Mumbai, the oldest and richest neighborhood in the city. Accommodations here put you close to most top museums, restaurants, bars, art galleries, and shops. Proximity to major attractions comes at a premium price, though--not surprising for one of the most expensive cities in Asia. If you plan to visit on a tight budget, look for options near railway stations, but prepare for low-grade rooms and few or no amenities.

  • If you love cricket and visit Mumbai this is a must. Lots of pitches and games in progress (also urchins with makeshift bats stumps etc) in the middle of a huge city. Just standing at one end and look...  more »

  • Good maidan.. well maintained .. backdrop of University Building , clock tower makes it interesting to watch especially with lighting up of these old buildings
  • One of the ground very well known to the people just to play cricket, the ground itself is an historic cricket playground used by british just to play cricket. And the ground is maintained by the tata group of companies so the city has a place where children can have their childhood activity and adults too can enjoy the matches by playing and watching it. The best prime location even for tourist people to know about what exactly is cricket.
  • Awesome place, well maintained playground. Many companies host their sports activities here! Accessible from both CSTM and Churchgate station.
  • Oval Maidan is given this name because of its oval shape. Oval Maidan is probably the best-known sporting ground in the city Its an oval shaped ground. Mostly Cricket and Football sports are being played here. It is worth a visit, especially if there’s a cricket or football match on. No Poliitical rallies or religious functions in this ground. It has a  jogging course. If you are a morning walker then get ready to tie your shoe lays and have a nice walk in the morning with cool breeze It is maintained by OCRA (Oval-Cooperage Residents Association).
  • Open spaces. Great for architectural sight seeing. The Dadabhai Clock Tower is in front of it. The Mumbai High Court too.
