Get sprinkled by holy water in a shrine which gave name to Mumbai at Mumbadevi Temple, a small but locally very important Hindu temple set in the busy Zaveri Bazaar area. Originally erected in 1635, the temple was reconstructed in 1737, the temple features a statue of Jagdamba Mata sitting on a lion adorned in a glittering gild robes, and an image of Annapurna Mata as well as central Mumba Devi, the city’s patron goddess with a silver crown, a nose stud and a golden necklace. An integral part of Mumbai’s history, the goddess is closely associated with women’s fishing community. Prayers are held several times a day in this popular religious site. • Always heaving, always interesting and, if you can find someone to point out the extraordinary gods on one of the doors then that'll make your visit even better!
  • This is a temple located in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city so not particularly peaceful. Nonetheless, its a beautiful temple for devotees
  • must visit as the name of the city is because of this devi Mumbadevi, could be a little more cleaner so you will enjoy the peace and aura of the diety
  • This is the Hindu Temple of mumba devi and it is so beautiful temple near to station. It is a best historical place.
  • An old hindu temple in mumbai..!! and dedicated to goddess mumba !! nice place to visit.. holy place..!!
  • Presiding deity of Mumbai. Mata Mumba Devi is flanked by Mata Annapurna on her right. Located right in the heart of city amidst jewellery and other shops, the best time to go is Sunday. On weekdays , the area is very crowded due to business activities. Parking is something you have to be wary of even on Sundays, best to go by a taxi.
  • Holy place and Mumbai name derived from Mumba devi !!!!
  • Devi of mumbai .beatiful temple
