Mahalakshmi Temple, Mumbai (Bombay)

Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 900+ reviews on the web
At Mahalakshmi Temple, witness how devotees passionately worship the Hindu goddess Mahalaxmi, the central deity of the sacret text called the "Devi Mahatmyam." Look for the statue of the goddess (devi), which the chief engineer dreamt of and actually recovered from the sea during the temple's construction in 1831. Examine the idols adorned with nose rings, pearl necklaces, and gold bangles. If you want to make your own religious contribution, head over to the stalls to purchase flower garlands and make an offering. Even though the site is small, it can get crowded, so time your visit accordingly. Put Mahalakshmi Temple into our Goregaon tourist route planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • This is again among the famous temples of Mumbai. Every Tourist bus will take you to this place. Famous among the theism.
  • It is one of the most popular temple in Mumbai and is located near Haji Ali. There is usually a long queue to perform Puja in temple, so plan only if you have at least 1-2 hour to spent in temple.
  • Near to Haji Ali dargah and must visit while compiling Mumbai darshan

I take a picture of them.I have never seen before this amount of pigeons at one place.this temple is very near to haji ali & mahalakshmi station. Thank you. :-)......
  • It is an Awesome temple to Visit. There are lot of shops outside the temple if you wanna buy pooja stuffs. The Temple is quite big and there is a beautiful sea view behind the temple. PHOTOGRAPTHY is strictly prohibited. The Godess Sanathi is very grand and has the devine feel. There is a open place inside the temple where you can sit and meditate. The temple officials are very soft spoken and they take care of the devotees and their needs in the temple especially if you are accompanied by your small kids.
  • A small beautiful temple of Shri Mahalaxmi right on the seaside. The main deity Mata Mahalaxmi is flanked by Mata Kalika Devi and Mata Saraswati Devi. As you descend a small stair on the left of Mahalaxmi ,it leads to the seaside behind the Mandir and a temple of Shri Hanumanji and Shri Ganesh. The Navaratra , Deepavali and month of Margshirsha are particular days of worship.
