Flora Fountain, Mumbai (Bombay)

(3.6/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
Admire an exquisitely carved Roman goddess atop Flora Fountain, a neo-classical and Gothic revival fountain in Hutatma Chowk Square. Inaugurated in 1869 by the Agri-Horticultural Society of Western India to honor a British colonial administrator, the fountain was sculpted in specially imported Portland stone. Surrounded by green shrubs in a circular garden, the fountain makes a popular tourist attraction and a particularly nice sight at night. Named after a daughter-in-law of a Jewish businessman in Mumbai, the fountain has long been a landmark of the city, and is now surrounded by skyscrapers. • Famous landmark located in South Mumbai. Beautiful fountain in a traffic junction. Nothing much, can click couple of pics.
  • Good historical place to see in South Mumbai.. You should visit if you are coming out of Mumbai.. Nice location..
  • Regretably the whole fountain is currently under extensive long term renovation but it is possible to have a quick if not extensive and appreciative look behind the scenes - which demonstrates the ele...  more »

  • Awesome Dessert Places nearby. Kalaghoda is 5 min walk. CTO vada pav is also very famous. There's akbarallys furniture. This junction is connecting junction between CST and Churchgate station
  • Heritage architects have complained for years that the Soviet-style concrete statue next to the Flora Fountain ruins the visual sweep of the Fort’s colonial facades and streetscape. But did you ever wonder what this monument is supposed to commemorate? Fifty years ago this year, the struggle for Samyukta Maharashtra spilled onto the streets of the city formerly known as Bombay.
  • Tis only in Mumbai that you come across a defining, iconic, legendary and historical place thats treated worse and kept dirtier than a public toilet in Paris. Welcome to Mumbai - Take a picture and than do some photoshop to make it look like you are having a great time
  • Great area. The fountain used to be really beautiful at its best of times, now it is just not that great but efforts to restore it to its former glory have been started.
  • Heart of South Mumbai. Now known as Hutatma Chowk.
