Crawford Market, Mumbai (Bombay)

(3.5/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Explore the vibrant and colorful stalls at Crawford Market, one of the most famous markets in the area. Among the plethora of goods, you'll find textiles and ready-to-sew clothing, all types of fresh fruit and vegetables, and a specialist pet market at the back selling various critters (buyer beware: some of them illegally peddle endangered species). Outside, take some time to appreciate the market's blend of Norman and Flemish architecture, and look for stone fountains and friezes depicting Indian farmers. Inside, browse in a friendly, hassle-free environment, and pick out something special to take away with you. • It’s officially called Mahatma Phule market now, but the thousands of people who make special trips to stock up on green vegetables, exotic fruits, fresh meat and imported goods still refer to it by its old name, Crawford Market. Completed in 1869, the bustling Crawford Market has separate sections for fresh and packaged produce, and its courtyard holds illegally-obtained and cruelly-caged pets. Check out the beautiful but long-defunct stone fountain towards the back.
  • Great place to buy variety of household items at reasonable prices. Non veg food is awesome. This place has more variety of chocolates than you have heard about.
  • Known as crawford market.. Best place to buy imported products such as chocolates, perfumes and all. You can get a+ quality fruits and fresh vegetables. And variety of pets. There is shop for birds, fish, dogs and much more. A small shopping mall is just next to crawford market named royal touch where you can buy clothes at a reasonable price
