Where to stay in Mumbai (Bombay)

In a cramped city like Mumbai, finding a budget hotel can present a serious challenge. Many business travelers and tourists choose to stay in South Mumbai, the oldest and richest neighborhood in the city. Accommodations here put you close to most top museums, restaurants, bars, art galleries, and shops. Proximity to major attractions comes at a premium price, though--not surprising for one of the most expensive cities in Asia. If you plan to visit on a tight budget, look for options near railway stations, but prepare for low-grade rooms and few or no amenities.

  • This church has got some deep history. It's the best example for the gothic architecture in Bombay. One can witness all the motives of the gothic architecture in this very church.
  • Great Experience. Right now I am at Afghan Church, and got to know that church opens at 9AM. It's mentioned the church opens at 7 AM on online platform's.
  • If you are not in Navy and lives in Colaba, it is difficult for you to end up at this place in Mumbai. I was always curious about the afghan church in Mumbai because of its odd name and unknown location when I see a BST bus with the board. Located deep inside the naval premises of Colaba, it has a tall tower that catches your eye, but it is a monument that looks neglected when you enter the premises. It was good to see some restoration work going on. Erected in memory of the biggest british defeat in the first Afghan war, this is a fairly forgotten place with hardly any tourists paying a visit. I could see a few students with a teacher listening to the history and significance of this place when i reached the church on a monday morning. Although not in its glamorous best, the colored glass windows are beautiful and pretty much intact even after 160 years. A must visit if you are a history buff, and a good place to spend some time if you are in the area..
  • It's a beautiful church. Very rustic.
  • Landmark for one of the entrance gates to the high security Navy Nagar Complex.
