Take in views of the Aravalli Range from atop Rajasthan’s highest peak at Guru Shikhar. Just 15 km (9 mi) from Mount Abu and reachable by car, the peak rises to an elevation of 1,722 mt (5,676 ft). From the top, enjoy panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscapes as you cool down in the breeze. Climb the stairs to discover the Hindu cave temples of Dattatreya, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and another temple dedicated to his mother, Anasuya. Look out for the large bell, suspended by a wooden frame, dating back to 1411. Plan to see Guru Shikhar and other attractions that appeal to you using our Mount Abu vacation trip planner.

  • Religious reasons aside (there are 2 temples at the top), just flaunt the fact that you have perched yourself on the peak of a mountain range, Aravallis, in this case

  • Habit of Indians is to build temples in areas where it is difficult to go anď then make easier way to reach there. This area is no exception. There are steps up to the summit. Three temples near the top and shops destroy the beauty of the summit. Topmost area is colored uglily. But still view from the summit is worth watching.
  • Guru Shikhar is temple located on hill near 20-25 kms from Mount Abu. best time to visit is after sunrise or before sunset. I has taken rented bike to travel through road it was very dangerous road because of so many turnings & high, better ride slowly and here you can experience amazing view on top of Guru Shikhar. Preferable time to go is after 9:00 am to before 5:00pm.
