Sri Krishna Janmasthan, Mathura
Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Feel the power of ancient mythology and powerful traditions at Sri Krishna Janmasthan, one of the most sacred Hindu temples believed to have been constructed at the birthplace of Krishna. Standing on holy grounds as a countless reincarnation of the first shrine believed to be 5,000 years old, the present-day pale red structure was completed in 1965. Impressive images of deities with vivid colors feature all over the large gardens. Lord Krishna’s chariot pulled by four white horses, and Shiva prancing atop of a seven-headed king cobra are among the highlights. See the cage-like shrine behind a mosque marking Krishna’s exact birthplace. A visit to Sri Krishna Janmasthan represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Mathura trip builder to plot your vacation.
